Director General of Police Shri Dilbag Singh today visited Ganderbal and Handwara to review the security scenario in these districts. He was accompanied by IGP Kashmir Shri S.P Pani and DIG CKR Shri V. K. Birdhiduring the visit to Ganderbal and at Handwara the DGP J&K and IGP Kashmirwere received by DIG NKR Shri Mohammad Suleman Choudary and Commander 7 Sector RR Brig. M.S. Rathore.

On his arrival at Ganderbal and Handwara, the DGP was presented ceremonial guards of honour. He interacted with the contingents and appreciated the drill and their turnout. During his visit to these places DGP interacted with respective jurisdictional officers and also addressed darbars of Police Personnel.

While addressing the Darbars, the DGP complimented the officers and Jawans of Police, Army and CAPF for their tireless efforts and dedication in maintaining peace and order in their respective areas. He said that since last 30 years there were lot of ups and downs in the security situation but the police personnel along with other security agencies have taken up these challenges bravely and dealt with them firmly. He said that under the able leadership at different levels from the forces, each one contributed in one way or the other in maintaining normalcy and defeated the ill designs of the anti national elements. Without caring for their own comfort andcelebration of festivals with their families, the Police personnel have remained on fore front of maintaining peace and public order.

The DGP said that the good work done by the J&K Police and the other forces is being recognised at every forum including the Govt. of India. Some grievances of the force like hike in SPOs salary, hardshipallowance, pay anomaly etc, have already been redressed. However, PoliceHeadquarters is working on other requirements of the Police personnel, DGPadded. He said that whenever role of J&K Police is lauded, I feel proud ofthe force as its head. He added that the J&K Police has faced everychallenge with utmost courage and professional outlook.

The DGP said that the proxy war thrust upon us from thePakistan has not come to an end and J&K Police and other security forcesare continuously fighting it and we will continue to fight for the security andintegrity of our nation. He said that Pakistan is in no way the friend ofpeople of Jammu and Kashmir as it has continuously brought death anddestruction on the people and disrupted the peace and order here. He emphasizedupon officers and Jawans to foil the wicked acts/designs of the elementsinimical to the peace and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that duringthe previous years particularly in 2010 and 2016 J&K Police faced a toughsituation on law & order front. This time around the force has worked withextreme professionalism in maintaining the law and order in Jammu and Kashmir,DGP added. He stressed that the subversion and terrorism are to be uprooted sothat the general masses could live in a peaceful atmosphere which is ourpriority.

The DGP heard the grievances of Jawans regarding thetransfer and general welfare measures for the personnel. He gave on spotdirection to redress the requests and assured that genuine grievances will betaken care off. He said that Police Headquarters has been looking for everyopportunity to promote its personnel and will continue to work for morepromotion avenues. The DGP said that in Central Police Welfare Meetings whichis held annually, steps were taken in the past to contribute and take care ofthe welfare of the SPOs and in future too welfare of the personnel and SPOs andretired policemen will be our priority.

The DGP impressed upon the officers to take the driveagainst drugs as a mission till the menace is completely uprooted from thesociety. He said that the Police is strengthening its bonds with the people whoare supporting the force in our fight against the drugs.

Earlier, the DGP took a round of the Ganderbal town fromTawheed Chowk to Beehama and Malshahi Bagh to review the security situation ofthe area on ground.

SSP Ganderbal Shri Khalil Poswal briefed the DGP about thesecurity situation and measures taken to deal with the terrorism and othercriminal activities in the area in Ganderbal.
